North Root Big Lake Gardeners 2009 Hidden Valley Garden Tour
SUNDAY, August 2, 2009 1pm SHARP at the Big Lake Library
Join us and visit NINE beautiful Big Lake Gardens. Rain or Shine, we always have a GREAT TIME!
There will be gardens for everyone: Cottage-style, formal, containers, vegetables, perennial, new, old and in-between (the gardens that is, not you!).
We will meet at the Library in Big Lake briefly, then we are off and running to the first garden. You must be at the Library to get directions to the first garden, then to the first garden for directions to the second garden and so on. This is a progressive tour--we've always done it this way so we stay together as a large group and so that the gardeners whose gardens are on the tour can come along--otherwise, they have to wait for stragglers all day . . . no straggling here!Be sure to play the Plant Scavenger Hunt which will make you eligible for the great door prize drawing at the last garden. There will also be a SECRET GAME that will be announced at the Library and at the end of the tour a prize for the "Brightest Group of Gardeners." Remember hats, umbrellas and raincoats count! Judging will be by the participants on the tour. Get your friends together and get out your brightest garden gear and come along! See the photo below for inspiration--that's 4 North Root members on the Valley Garden Club's Garden Tour (Part 1) it started the day with a drizzle, but by the 2nd garden all was dry and beautiful.
Bring a snack--we expect the tour to last 3.5 to 4 hours. You are welcome to linger at the last garden as long as you like. Don't forget to bring your camera! Lots of opportunities along the way for great photos. Bring a snack and some water. There will be a few goodies along the way I am sure (there always have been--and our North Root members do know how to cook!). Wear good garden shoes, though walking should be easy on this tour. Sandals, spike heels and the like aren't recommended--unless you LIKE mud in your shoes and poking your heels into the dirt. Please leave your pets at home. Children are welcome as long as they don't run-amok through the garden beds and respect the work that has gone into creating them.
Please join us for this eagerly-anticipated event.
This is a great event! I have attended several years & have had a lovely time--the tour, the crowd & the gardens have all been wonderful in past years. I hope I can make it this year!
